Restaurants for Resilience
Nomination Form

Would you like to suggest a Restaurant

that meets our R4R Restaurants for Resilience?

​

Mandatory Baseline Criteria

- Use only reusable food-ware on-site.

- Avoid Styrofoam containers.
- Ensure straws, utensils, and takeout bags are not plastic.

- Avoid the usage of plastic bottles.
 

​

Optional additional point based criteria: 

​

  • All seafood is ‘Best Choice’ or ‘Good Alternative’ as defined by Seafood Watch, or no seafood is served 1pt

  • Proper recycling practices are followed 1pt

  • Ingredients are sourced locally to reduce carbon footprint and support sustainable farming 1pt 

  • Composting efforts are in place for food waste 1pt 

  • Installation of low-flow faucets and toilets 1pt

  • Offering drinking water only upon request 1pt

  • No hosing down outside areas to reduce urban runoff pollution 1pt

  • Proper disposal of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) in line with BMPs 1pt

  • Up-to-date septic or sewage systems to prevent wastewater pollution 1pt 

  • Is LED lighting installed on site? 1pt

  • Partnership with a company to collect and process recycled grease into commercial products 1pt 

  • Are solar panels installed on site? 1pt

  • Are Energy Star certified appliances used? 1pt

  • Vegetarian and vegan food options are regularly offered 1pt

  • Employee's receive introductory sustainability training 1pt

  • Do Employees participate in ongoing sustainability workshops 1pt

  • Active community engagement and partnerships for environmental or social welfare causes 2 pts

  • Commitment to hosting a living seawall, oyster bed, or biochar sleeve along the restaurant's seawall and within adjacent waterways (for waterfront restaurants) 3pts

All nominated restaurants meeting these standards will be recognized in our monthly newsletter, website, and eligible for future R4R Networking Events.

We look forward to continuing these initiatives and more with the residents of Broward County to make a lasting impact on our community.
